Jánošíkove Diery offers a spectrum of challenges, making it accessible yet exhilarating. Your experienced guide will assess the group and conditions to select the best possible route for the day.

Expect: Drive from Bratislava 2-2,5 hour there and the same time back. To be on your feet for approximately 3-5 hours for the main gorge circuits, depending on the route chosen and the pace. You must have a good level of fitness and sure-footedness—this is not a simple forest walk! + about 1-1,5hour to taste local meal in authentic Slovak restaurant.

This adventure is available all year round, each season offering a unique perspective:

  • Spring/Summer/Autumn: Lush greenery, rushing water, and vibrant colours.

  • Winter Wonderland: When the waterfalls freeze, the gorges transform into a stunning, icy spectacle. Winter hiking requires an extra layer of preparation.

Winter Warning: The trails can become extremely icy. Your guide will ensure safety, and we offer the possibility to rent specialized winter hiking equipment (e.g., crampons/spikes) on-site to navigate the ice and ladders safely.

⚠️ Important Preparation

The mountain weather in Malá Fatra can change rapidly. Be prepared for all types of weather, including rain, wind, or snow, regardless of the season.

  • Mandatory Gear: Wear sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support. Layers of clothing are essential.

  • Condition: This is a physical challenge. Only participants with good physical condition should attempt the full tour, especially the more difficult Upper Diery sections. You will be walking, climbing, and descending on sometimes slippery and uneven terrain.

07:30 Departure from Bratislava Meet your guide in front of your hotel and begin the drive.

07:30 – 10:00 Scenic Transfer to Terchová - 2.5 hrs Comfortable transfer via highway. A short stop may be included if needed.

10:00 – 10:30 Arrival & Gear Check - 30 mins Arrive at the trailhead (Biely Potok/Hotel Diery). Guide brief, final preparations, and optional rental of winter spikes/crampons if necessary (seasonal).

10:30 – 15:00 The Jánošíkove Diery Hike 4.5 -5 hrs Guided trekking through the canyons (Lower, New, and Upper Diery). This challenging time frame allows for the "Big Circuit" (approx. 4-5 hours), breaks, photo stops, and safe navigation of the ladders and chains.  There is option to choose also shorter route, but exact time depends also on your contitions and if there will not be other tourists on the route blocking leathers.

15:00 – 16:30 Traditional Slovak Meal 1 hr - 1,5 hr Head to an authentic local koliba (restaurant) in Terchová or Zázrivá for a well-deserved, hearty traditional lunch/early dinner.

16:30 – 17:00 Prepare for Departure 30 mins Final rest, souvenir hunting in Terchová, and boarding the vehicle.

17:00 – 19:30 Return Transfer to Bratislava 2.5 hrs Relax on the drive back to the city.

~19:30 Arrival in Bratislava Drop-off at the agreed-upon location, completing your epic day tour.
